"Mookata is such a fun experience — grilling and hotpot in one. The set comes with pork, prawns, veggies, and noodles, and honestly one set is already enough for 2 people. I just wish the meat had more seasoning, and that there was a non-spicy sauce option because the sauce was quite spicy for low spice tolerance. The Pad Thai Wagyu was a standout, one of the best Pad Thais I’ve tried in Melbourne CBD. Really balanced flavour, not too sweet or salty. The crispy prawn with mixed salad and deep-fried calamari with spicy herbs were both fresh and crunchy. Even though we requested less spicy, they were still quite spicy for me, but flavour-wise they were good. Calamari wasn’t soggy and seafood tasted fresh."

"Heng Thai Restaurant delivers a vibrant and satisfying dining experience in the heart of the city, offering an extensive menu that spans comforting soups, fragrant rice dishes, crisp fried favourites, grilled specialties and a variety of noodle selections. On this visit, the Wagyu beef rice dish stood out for its richness and balance, the tender beef layered over perfectly cooked rice with depth of flavour in every bite. The crunchy deep-fried oysters offered a pleasing contrast in texture — golden and crisp on the outside while remaining juicy within. The tiger beef showcased bold seasoning and a distinct style of preparation, highlighting the kitchen’s confident approach to flavour. Ordering via the QR code at the table was seamless and intuitive, with both food and drinks menus clearly laid out and easy to navigate. Dishes arrived promptly, reflecting an efficient kitchen operation. While service was attentive in spirit, the team appeared stretched during peak hours, making it occasionally difficult to gain staff attention. Overall, Heng Thai Restaurant presents excellent value for money, combining generous flavours with affordable city pricing. A dependable choice for those seeking satisfying Thai cuisine without compromising on quality or budget."

"Tried the Mookata Thai BBQ set at Heng Thai Restaurant on Bourke Street and loved it. The $39.9 set is generous with meats, seafood, vegetables, and glass noodles, plus you get BBQ and hotpot in one. The meats were tender, the dipping sauce was so good, and the Wagyu beef Pad Thai was easily one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. Affordable, satisfying, and always great Thai street food."

"Went there for lunch and I ordered a regular size of combination pork boat noodle, impressed with the taste and the price was reasonable. (was wanting to have small size of boat noodle like in Thailand but they only do dinner time). Restaurant decoration makes me feel like i’m in Thailand and feel better from post vacation blue."

"If you’ve ever tried to walk into Heng Thai Melbourne without a booking… you know the struggle This place is always buzzing, every day of the week — and honestly, it’s no surprise. Our table? A Thai feast from start to finish. Wagyu Pad Thai – silky noodles, smoky wok hei, and that melt-in-your-mouth wagyu. Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork – the crunch that makes your heart happy. Crispy Prawns with Spicy Salad – tangy, fresh, and fiery in the best way. And the grand finale… Tom Yum Seafood – hot, sour, fragrant, and a full-on flavour explosion. If you’re chasing real Thai flavours with Melbourne energy, this spot is it. But fair warning — once you try it, you’ll be thinking about that tom yum every time it rains"

"I like that they offer a decent selection of tasty street food classics and at affordable prices too. They also do Thai style hotpot and BBQ which seemed to be a crowd favourite! It’s located in a shared food hall so there is plenty of seating available that can easily be combined for larger groups."
